Over the summer of 2024, Cage the Elephant released a new album titled “Neon Pill.” The lead singer, Matt Shultz came out to say the album was written about his struggles from the past several years- including being separated from his wife, his father’s death, and an arrest from January 2023 with charges of felony firearm possession. If you listen closely to the lyrics of the song “Neon Pill,” he actually explains how his arrest came to be and why it happened. The entire album is very characteristic of Cage the Elephant’s sound and style. I thought it was a great album to bring them back after a hiatus since 2019. I like how they sing about real issues and events they deal with, and I think it makes the listener able to connect and relate to the band more. If you’re looking for an alternative/indie rock album, you should definitely check this one out!
